A wonderful posthumous award for lovely Selma..

I am so excited to be able to share this news with you – as much because I’ve known for a while and it’s been a struggle to keep it to myself!!!

Our lovely Selma has been recognised this week at an amazing, glitzy London awards ceremony for one of her recipes – remember this lovely cake? I had no idea that she’d even put her recipe forward for the competition so the news was a complete and utter and wonderful surprise.

The Observer newspaper, a national newspaper in the UK, runs the ‘Observer Monthly Food Awards’, an annual event, all entries being voted on by the public. Today the whole awards ceremony has been published in the newspaper’s Sunday magazine, as well as online, and there is Selma’s recipe, in full wonderful print 🙂

It’s so lovely to see, and she is in amazing company!!! Exactly where she deserves to be 🙂

I wish she could have been here to enjoy the ceremony and the accolade xx

I’m sharing this with our Fiesta Friday family and I know they will all be so happy for her.

Ohhh! What (again) an amazing achievement for Selma. I guess a birthday present for her?? 😀 We couldn’t be more proud of her. I am sure she would have been so much excited and smiling from ear to ear. Ugh, I missed her!!

It’s a beautiful cake, and how wonderful that the food community has honoured Selma in this very public way. OFM is such a good publication. I am sure her family will be pleased with this accolade. Thank you for highlighting it for us. 🙂

Wow what an incredible honor, I am thrilled that her recipe was chosen, it is a gorgeous cake and I remember it well but I am also a little sad that Selma was not here to accept the award. I am sure she is positibely beaming right now knowing that her recipe was chosen. Really love the magazine, first time I’ve seen it and it looks like its very progressive and artistic. The photo of her cake is wonderful.

Wow brings tears of happiness and sadness. I’m sure she was watching. I went to the Dorchester for tea for my birthday and was thinking of her. So it’s in the Sunday Times magazine too? Must go hunt for it x

Thank you for sharing this wonderful news with us Elaine! I love how this cake perfectly represents Selma: comforting food but with a creative twist; beautifully and joyously presented on the bright pink background; expertly prepared with easy and consice instructions that inspire the reader to want to try the recipe. Signature Selma and so proud her immense talent has touched food professionals and won recognition. Selma is beaming down. Bittersweet for her family but a well merited honor and tribute to cherish.

Last year (July/2015) I had read on Suzanne’s (www.apuginthekitche.com) the dreadful news of Selma’s passing-no one knew she was even ill! As my mind reeled at the time I recalled Selma as a Member of Tasty Kitchen.com/as I am also a member. I wrote an In Memorandum that still stands online to the entire community of TK. Her recipes live on through this Public-Community Recipe Sharing Site. She will not be forgotten. Knowing she also received this recognition truly warms my heart for a wonderful lady! Thank you for sharing this. Cheryl x

It’s wonderful isn’t it? Selma lives on through her recipes on so many sites and in many arenas, I love it. She was so amazing, but also so humble, I wish she could see all of this recognition. I miss her so much, there’s so much I want to share with her x

It really is 🙂 I was so lucky to actually meet Selma personally and be friends with her in the flesh, as it were, but even without meeting one another I think we create lovely friendships. Modern day pen pals xx

I am so happy you were able to meet her in person that is truly special! It does make it much harder for you losing her as your dear friend you wrote about when beginning your Blogging. Something good comes from something unpleasant as real life goes on too. Cheryl x
