A Special Fiesta Friday Tribute to Selma

As posted today on Fiesta Friday:

“Some of you have heard of the unbearable news. Nonetheless to the rest who haven’t, it’s no less painful for us to be the bearers of the sad news of a dear friend’s passing. Selma of Selma’s Table, whom we have the honor of calling a sister in spirit, passed away on Saturday July 4th, after losing her battle with cancer.

In losing Selma, we at Fiesta Friday have lost an encouraging supporter and co-host, a loyal advocate, and a true friend who was generous with her time and knowledge.

Selma touched many lives. We know you share the same sentiments about her. We understand that you, too, want to show your appreciation for all that Selma had brought to our community as a whole and to your blogging experience personally.

So amidst our collective grief, but with love and deep admiration, we would like to dedicate a special Fiesta Friday in her honor. We are celebrating Selma, her life and her talents as a writer, a cook, a photographer, and a stylist in a Special Fiesta Friday.

I am still so shocked and can’t believe she is gone. I think Friday’s tribute will be awesome. I am going to make her contest winning recipe adapted from your great recipe for chicken. potato and chickpeas.

I did not know Selma very well, visited her blog just a few times through In My Kitchen, so I don’t think it is appropriate for me to participate. I just wanted to wish my condolences to all of you who interacted with her on so many levels. It is amazing how hard it is to lose a person we care about, even if we never met face to face.

This will be a lovely tribute, and I will make sure to stop by and read all entries…

I am extremely shocked and saddened by this news. I thought so highly of Selma’s talent and natural kindness she extended. May her soul rest in peace. I thank her for making this a better world with her in it. Selma, her family and you. dear Elaine, her friend in adventure, will be in my prayers.

I am so saddened by this news. Selma found my blog a few years ago and has been such a loyal follower and comment or since. I adored her blog and all of her stories of family and friends. I will miss this wonderful woman.
