Why we blog.. Selma’s Table

20140313-124948.jpgThere are possibly not enough superlatives in my vocabulary to tell you how much I love this blog and it’s writer. You will find heartfelt stories introducing wonderful recipes that you will almost be able to taste as you read them…introducing Selma’s Table

How long have you had your blog?

I started blogging in August of 2013, so about 7 months, ago (when this was written)

What was your reason for starting it?

Friends of mine have been encouraging me to do this for years but I never really had the time. In the end, it is because my son will be going off to uni in a couple of years and I rather liked the idea of his being able to read the stories and make the food that he loves from my blog.

What is your constant inspiration?

I am mainly inspired by what’s in season in the markets and shops, but sometimes I read a restaurant review that will spark me off or see something on a food programme. I also love reading recipes and quite often tweak them to suit my palate.

How would you describe your blog?

A cross between a memoir and a diary with food as the common theme!

Where does your blog name come from?

I love having friends round for a meal, whether it is a quick mid-week supper or a more elaborate weekend affair. Without fail, everyone gravitates towards the table where we hatch plans, recount memories and laugh like drains! When I was thinking about my blog name, it seemed so natural that it should be about my table where I also knead bread and make pasta.

What are your longer term aims for your blog?

I just want to get all my recipes on and take better photos – anything else is a bonus really.

Any final words for my readers?

I wrote the “About Me” page 3 years ago but was too nervous/timid to hit the publish button. I didn’t think that many people would be interested and worried that others would laugh at my efforts. All I can say is that if you are thinking about starting a blog, food or otherwise, just do it. The blogging community is AMAZING! Bloggers are such warm, positive and supportive bunch that you will not regret it. I wish I had done it sooner but am very glad that I did it at all!

Thanks for having me, Elaine x

So now that you’ve read about the lady behind the blog, head on over and check out the cake she posted yesterday and I challenge you not to drool!!!! A-MAZ-ING!!!! Selma’s Table

Reblogged this on Selma's Table and commented:
You have read about when I met up with fellow blogger, Elaine of foodbod, earlier this year at London’s Borough Market. She is a really special person; kind, caring and so generous of her time and knowledge.

She started a series called “Why we Blog” and sent questions round to some of the bloggers she follows. What has ensued has been a blossoming of everyone’s blogging community as we get to discover new blogs and find out more about the people behind the blogs we do follow.

Today, I am thrilled to say that she has featured me – thank you so much Elaine – if you haven’t already discovered her blog, get yourself over there now and revel in her flavourful, exotic and meat free recipes, covet her new puppy and get to know a truly wonderful person!

Thanks Melissa – I so hate the camera that there are few photos of me these days! A friend took that one evening after a few glasses of fizz which is probably why I don’t mind it!

Selma and I are as one in regard to her ‘anything else’ remarks. And I note she’s been going for 3 years, which gives me hope – and some readers despair [grin] …
