Today I have had a wonderful day out in London at Borough Market, a wonderful place full of amazing produce, which I’ll talk more about a bit later, but more importantly, meeting one of my fellow bloggers, Selma from Selma’s Table. What a treat!!!
When I started my blog I had no idea that I was joining such a wonderful online community, or that I would meet such lovely people online, and I absolutely never thought I would literally make the friends that I have or end up meeting anyone in person, so today was a real treat! Selma and I have been following one another for a whole now and have shared and enjoyed each other’s posts and recipes and meeting in person was a merely a continuation of that online communication, we merely continued from where we’d left off online!
We’ve talked and walked and sampled and eaten and got thoroughly overexcited about spices and fresh produce and lots and lots of cheese and have had a lovely day and all I can say is: I’ll be back :))
Borough Market is on the south side of London Bridge in Central London, in the shadow of the Shard (mega tall mirrored building!). The market is situated under railway arches and you can hear and feel the trains go by as you wander.
The fresh produce stalls are amazing and awash with colour and versions of your favourite fruits and vegetables that you’ve never seen!
The stalls cooking freshly cooked food smell amazing and there’s lots of lovely choice and, wonderfully for me, lots of vegetarian options :)) Selma and I started with Indian food and followed it up with Lebanese. Yum!!!
In the past I would have come home weighed down with bags but I’m more dejection nowadays and perused and considered before buying – plus, lots of the stalls have websites and online shops!! Hee hee..;)
I did however come home with some pumpkin seed oil that tastes amazing! Watch this space for it in upcoming recipes 🙂

We have been to this market twice now, and come away laden, especially with the pumpkin oil. It is fabulous, and tastes great drizzled over vanilla ice cream! Yep, really – enjoy😀😀

I told you so :-). Did you make it to Neals Yard Cheese shop round the corner? Although these days there is so much good cheese in the market that it’s almost (but not quite) a disappointment!

Yes we did 🙂 we sampled so many different goats cheeses, about five different ones in Neals Yard alone!! And I still didn’t find what I was looking for!!

LOVE Borough Market. I have been pretty much every time I visit London (unless it is for some quick up and down meetings from Edinburgh). I have never been brave enough to take more than a few terrible pictures – too shy! Your pics are fab, and what a delight to meet up with a fellow blogger!

I think copper saucepans are okay, but if it were me, I’d make sure they’re not alloyed with aluminum. Copper/stainless steel would work.

I had no idea both you and Selma lived in England! I have no idea why. I’ve been to Borough market in May and in December – I love the contrast of the food and smells! Beautiful post!

No, I’m in the US. But my daughter lived in London for 4 years, and we took advantage of it, visiting various areas in London, Cornwall, the Isle of Wight, Lake District, the Cotswolds, plus toured Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. We may not make it back, because she now lives in NYC, but we miss it all. I’ve never loved a city before I met London!
